Short-term rental of cars as a mobility complement contributes to an improvement of mobility, the environment and the liveability of our cities.

The “Cleaner Car Contracts” project

During the past few years, more and more attention has been paid globally to reducing CO₂ emissions. Fluctuating oil prices and the international climate goals make it necessary for companies to define new strategies, which depart from a low-carbon economy.

In reaction to these challenges, an international group of six environmental organisations, including the Belgian Bond Beter Leefmilieu, have started up a 'Cleaner Car Contracts' programme.

The objective of the ‘Cleaner Car Contracts’ programme is: To invite the largest leasing companies, rental companies and fleet owners of Europe, who are jointly responsible for more than 30% of the automobile market, to help in pleading for a quicker introduction of more highly fuel-efficient passenger cars. A second objective is an exploration of the interest for electrical vehicles within the sector.

Clean and efficient vehicles for sustainable logistics and mobility

There is a need for a sustainable transport solution, especially in urban areas. In an increasing number of cities, large and polluting freight lorries are banned from the inner city. This is the reason we are searching for alternatives for a sustainable urban distribution," says Guy Buyst, CEO of the Dockx Group.
