An exceptionally large delivery? One-off transportation of furniture or other sizeable items? Is your lorry out of action? No problem. You can rent all sorts of trucks at Dockx Rental: open or closed, pick-up, with curtain sides,...
To rent a truck, you need a valid driving licence C. The validity also depends on the medical examination. When the certificate of driving suitability is out of date, the validity of driving licence C is also terminated.
Most trucks are equipped with a digital tachograph. On the website www.digitach.be you will find everything about the digital tachograph. Via this website you can also find a blank form to request a digital driver’s card.
Kilometre tax for trucks
From 1 April 2016, all owners of trucks with a Maximum Permissible Mass (MPM) of more than 3.5 tonnes must pay a kilometre tax for the use of motorways and certain regional and municipal roads in Belgium. It is the MPM of the trailer that decides whether the kilometre tax is applicable or not.
At Dockx, the kilometre tax is calculated into the hire price of the truck, based on a fixed price, if hired for less than 30 days. If the truck is hired for more than 30 days, the actual prices for the kilometre tax are charged.
An OBU is installed in all Dockx hire trucks. Upon departure, the hirer must ensure that the green light is on. This is the sign that the OBU is activated.
For the Netherlands and Germany, the hirer must purchase their own Eurovignette at the border.
Statutory regulations for loading and axle load
Just like MAM (Maximum Allowable Mass), axle load is also checked. You should therefore pay enough attention to the correct load of the vehicle, as this will prevent stress and fines. In order to obtain a proper axle division, you need to place the load as much in the centre of the vehicle as possible. This will prevent you from exceeding the permitted axle load.
