Accessibility Statement – Dockx Rental Mobile Application (iOS and Android) in accordance with the European Accessibility Act and EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021)

Purpose and Target Audience

The Dockx Rental App allows users to register, reserve a vehicle, lock/unlock it, and make payments without the intervention of a staff member.

The app is intended for both private and professional customers of Dockx Rental who rent vehicles through one of our locations in Belgium.

Accessibility Statement

Dockx Rental is committed to making its mobile application accessible, in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 8 May 2024 on the Accessibility of Products and Services, which transposes Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the European Accessibility Act) into Belgian law.

Dockx Rental aims to ensure that its mobile application complies with the requirements set out in EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021) – the European standard on accessibility requirements for ICT products and services – which incorporates the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as the reference for web and mobile content.

Evaluation Method

The accessibility of this application has been assessed based on internal testing and design evaluation by Dockx Rental and development partner Icapps.
No formal external accessibility audit has yet been carried out.

Compliance Status

The mobile application is currently partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines as referenced in EN 301 549.

Non-accessible Content

The following accessibility issues have been identified:

  • Non-text Content

    • An exception is made for the map view at locations, where actions and locations are represented by icons to minimise visual distraction. However, a fully accessible list alternative is available for the entire page, accessible via an icon-based action.

  • Orientation

    • The app currently supports portrait mode only.

  • Text Formatting

    • Without assistive technology, text can currently be enlarged up to 140% only.

    • Line height, paragraph spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing cannot yet be adjusted by the user.

  • Focus Indicator

    • Not every component currently receives a visible focus indicator.

  • Pointer Gestures

    • Users are required to provide a digital signature, which involves following a specific path.

  • Status Messages

    • Focus management for status messages is not yet optimised.

Proposed Alternatives

An accessible list alternative is provided for the interactive map view. No alternatives are currently available for other non-accessible elements.

Improvement Plan

The identified non-conformities from the simplified and in-depth accessibility analyses will be addressed in a bugfix release planned for 2026.
