Trailer rental
Dockx Rental rents out six trailers: three for a category B licence and three for a category B+E licence. The difference is the payload. Below 750 kg, a standard category B licence is enough. Above 750 kg, you need a category B+E licence. You collect every trailer at a Service Shop near you.
The range
- Open Trailer B: open, mesh sides, 500 kg. For garden waste, rubble and building waste.
- Cargo Trailer B: enclosed, 335 kg, 4.74 m³. For a small move or cargo that must stay dry.
- Cargo Trailer BE: enclosed, 872 kg, 5.33 m³. Same body, higher payload.
- Motor Trailer B: open, room for two motorcycles.
- Open Car Trailer BE: open car transporter up to 1,960 kg.
- Closed Car Trailer BE: enclosed car transporter up to 2,000 kg, three axles.
What to check first
Bring a duplicate of your car's number plate for every trailer. That keeps you compliant with Belgian law. For a B+E trailer, your own car also needs a valid roadworthiness certificate for towing a trailer. Check this before you book.
Which driving licence do I need to rent a trailer?
It depends on the payload. The Open Trailer B, the Cargo Trailer B and the Motor Trailer B only need a category B licence, because their payload stays below 750 kg. The Cargo Trailer BE, the Open Car Trailer BE and the Closed Car Trailer BE require a category B+E licence.
What do I need to bring when collecting?
Your driving licence, your ID card and a duplicate of your car's number plate. That duplicate is required under Belgian law and you arrange it in advance. For a B+E trailer, your car also needs a valid roadworthiness certificate for towing a trailer.
What is the minimum age to rent a trailer?
21 years, provided you have held a valid driving licence for at least 1 year. Drivers under 26 pay a daily surcharge. The exact amount appears during your booking.
