Frequently asked questions

Minimum age and required driving licence depend on vehicle type. Drivers under 26 years old pay a surcharge of €6.50 (incl. VAT) per driver per day.

Overview by vehicle type:

• Private car: minimum 23 years old, minimum 1 year driving licence B
• Luxury car, classic car or sports car: minimum 30 years old, minimum 3 years driving licence B
• Delivery van or moving van: minimum 21 years old, minimum 1 year driving licence B or BE
• Truck: minimum 21 years old, minimum 1 year driving licence C
• Motorcycle: minimum 25 years old, minimum 3 years driving licence A

The required driving licence depends on the vehicle you rent. Dockx Rental complies with legal requirements.

Overview:

• Licence A: motorcycle over 50 cc
• Licence B: private car (max. 8 passengers + driver) or goods vehicle up to 3,500 kg; trailer up to 750 kg
• Licence BE: trailer or semi-trailer with MAM up to 3,500 kg; combination up to max. 12,000 kg requires licence C1+E
• Licence B+96: combination of category B vehicle and trailer, MAM between 3,500 kg and 4,250 kg
• Licence C (+ valid medical fitness certificate): truck above 3,500 kg, trailer up to 750 kg
• Licence CE: combination truck (C) with trailer above 750 kg
• Licence D: passenger transport with more than 8 passengers
• Licence DE: category D vehicle with trailer above 750 kg (not for passenger transport)

Adding an additional driver costs €19.97 (incl. VAT) per driver, for all vehicle types: private car, delivery van, moving van, motorcycle, trailer and truck.

Note: all drivers must be listed on the rental agreement. Only then are they covered by insurance.
