What is the Dockx App?

With the Dockx app you rent 24/7 a delivery van or moving van — without employee intervention. You reserve, open and close the vehicle completely via your smartphone.

Via the app you rent a Mini Van, Mega Van or Easy Box. You can pick up the vehicle at the parking of a Dockx Service Shop, at a Pick-up Point or at an unattended location. The minimum rental period is 4 hours (half day), the maximum period is 3 months. With partner rental, hourly rental is also possible.

The vehicle is returned to the same location after the rental period.

How does the Dockx app work?

The Dockx app works in 8 steps:

  1. Download the free app via the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Register with your personal details, driving licence and identity card.
  3. Reserve your vehicle — choose date, location and vehicle type.
  4. View transparent rates so you know what to expect.
  5. Accurately complete damage registration at the start of your rental.
  6. Refuel the vehicle at the end of your rental and leave it clean.
  7. Pay in the app and provide your account number for deposit refund.
  8. Receive your invoice immediately after completion.

Who is the Dockx app available for?

The Dockx app is available to anyone aged 21 or over with a valid driving licence and a Belgian phone number. Your smartphone acts as a digital key — the booking only works on your device.

How do I create an account in the Dockx app?

To register in the Dockx app, you fill in your personal details, driving licence and identity card. Confirm the declaration and terms and conditions — you're ready for your first rental.

Driving licence expired? It is not possible to register with an expired licence. Once you have a new valid licence, you can complete your registration. Already registered? Send a photo of the front and back of your new licence to app@dockx-rental.be.

What is included in the rental price via the app?

The rental price via the Dockx app includes: TPL insurance, free kilometres depending on rental period, and 24/7 roadside assistance in Europe for technical defects.

Not included:

  • Fuel: you leave with a full tank and return the vehicle full. Exception: with hourly rental, fuel is included.
  • Deposit (does not apply to hourly rental).
  • Additional excess waiver (optional).
  • Extra cleaning costs for dirty vehicle or smoking.

How do I receive my invoice via the Dockx app?

Your invoice is sent to you by email as soon as you complete your rental in the app. You can always view your invoices in 'My bookings' in the Dockx app or via 'My account' on dockx.be.

How do I add additional drivers via the Dockx app?

With the shared digital key, multiple people can pick up and use the same rented vehicle. This works via the business account.

Here's how to add drivers:

  1. Go in the app to 'Driver overview' and add drivers to your business account. Does the driver not have an account yet? He receives an invitation by email.
  2. Make your booking via the app.
  3. Assign a driver from your list during booking, or invite a new one.
  4. The assigned driver can pick up, use and return the vehicle with their own digital key.

My vehicle is not at the agreed location. What do I do?

Is the location open? Address a staff member immediately — they will help you.

What do I do if I see damage before renting?

Before starting your rental, perform a damage check via the app: take a photo of each side of the vehicle. This damage registration is built into the app. Only photos taken via the app are accepted as valid proof. See additional damage? Register it immediately via the app as well.

What do I do if I cause damage during the rental?

Have you caused or noticed new damage? Register it immediately via the 'Damage detected' button in the app.

Steps:

  • Compare with the 4 initial photos you took at the start of your rental.
  • Register new damage to exterior or interior via the app.
  • Fill in the European accident report form correctly in the vehicle. Preferably have a police report made.
  • Final billing for new damage follows after inspection by our services.

How do I open and close the vehicle via the Dockx app?

You open and close the vehicle via the 'Open vehicle' and 'Close vehicle' buttons on your active rental screen in the app.

Need a key?

  • Vehicle with start/stop button: no physical key needed. Just press the start button.
  • Vehicle without start/stop button: the key is in the glove box. Put it back after your rental.

What should I pay attention to when ending an app rental?

When ending your rental via the app, pay attention to three things: return the vehicle clean, make sure the tank is full and do a damage check to avoid disputes later.

Can I travel abroad with an app vehicle?

Yes, you can travel abroad with a Dockx app vehicle — within approved countries. We strongly recommend taking out additional travel assistance insurance. Without this insurance, no repatriation is provided in case of breakdown or accident.

Can I rent moving materials via the Dockx app?

No, renting moving materials via the app is not possible. If you’d like to obtain packaging materials or moving equipment before you rent your vehicle, you can order online via www.dockx-boxes.be. Orders placed before 13:00 will be delivered the next working day.

Who pays parking or traffic fines with app rental?

As a driver, you pay all traffic and parking fines yourself — both in Belgium and abroad. Dockx Rental immediately forwards any fines received.

Pay on time: late payment results in notices (±€30, ±€45, ±€45 + registered mail) and eventually a bailiff. Do you disagree with a parking fine? File a complaint with the relevant municipality and inform Dockx Rental. The costs will be charged immediately anyway.

Are digital documents valid at a police check?

Yes. At a police check, keep the rental agreement (received by email) and the vehicle's onboard documents at hand. Both are valid as proof.

How can I delete my account?

On simple request, you can delete your account.

Delete your account via the app

  • Open the Dockx Rental app and log in with your account details.
  • In the top right corner, select the menu and choose 'My Account'.
  • Select 'Delete Account'.
  • Confirm the deletion of your account.
  • Your account will be deleted, and all your private data will be anonymized.

Alternatively, you can request account deletion via gdpr@dockx.be. Be sure to include your email address or customer number.

Legal requirements

Dockx Rental, as a car rental company, is bound by legal requirements for the identification of drivers. Therefore, it is only possible to delete your account 6 months after your last rental. If your last rental was less than 6 months ago, your account will be automatically deleted once this period has passed. You do not need to make a new request.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A deposit must be paid for every rental. The amount of the deposit depends on the length of the rental contract and the type of vehicle. Only the hourly rental option does not require a deposit.

In exceptional situations, the deposit can be waived. This is only possible if the renter has a valid VAT number and following permission from Dockx Rental.

How do I pay with app rental?

You pay by Bancontact or credit card. When booking, you choose: pay only the rental price (deposit charged at departure) or pay only the deposit (nothing charged at departure).

When does billing take place after my app rental?

If you complete all steps in the app when ending your rental, you receive the invoice immediately. Any amount overpaid (deposit) will be refunded within 5 working days after invoice creation to the account number you provided.

No available vehicle in the app. What now?

The app automatically shows alternative times when there is availability at your chosen location. Can't find anything suitable? Click 'Nearby' for an overview of available vehicles at other nearby locations.

Can I modify or cancel my app booking?

Yes. You can modify the date, start and end time directly in the app — also during the rental period, depending on availability. You cannot change the location via the app; contact us for this via app@dockx-rental.be or +32 3 830 88 88.

Cancellation is simple via the app. Cancel at least 48 hours in advance? It's free. Cancel later and already paid? We'll charge €75 in cancellation fees. The app will ask for your account number for the refund.
